Workshop Title: Allyship in Action
Workshop Description: Ally—it’s an action, not a label. Join facilitators from the Anti-Defamation League’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute for “Allyship in Action” workshop where participants will examine impacts of bias and develop tangible skills to prevent and intervene in bullying. Educators will develop tools to empower themselves, colleagues, and students. Whether we’re addressing homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, anti-Semitism or another form of bias, we all have a responsibility to create safer schools and spaces.

Workshop Title: BEAUTIFUL MINDS: Signs and Symptoms of Mental Health Issues in LGBTQ Youth
Workshop Description: Adolescence and young adulthood are already confusing times! Compound this with the frequently experienced shame and secrecy of sexual and gender identity and this can lead to a host of mental health concerns in LGBTQ youth that can greatly differ from their counterparts. Learn how to identity signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, and discuss how we can challenge our own personally beliefs and biases about mental health issues. This workshop is a great lead in to BLUNT TALK: A Candid Conversation About Substance Use in LGBTQ Youth.

Workshop Title: BLUNT TALK: Experimentation is a normal part of adolescence, which for some will take the form of substance use. Therefore, it is imperative for parents and providers to know the common trends in adolescent substance use for LGBTQ youth; to know how best to foster open communication about drug use with youth; and to challenge our own biases and beliefs about drug use. This workshop provides current and relevant information, including the physical, emotional, neurological and legal effects of using. This workshop serves as a great follow up to BEAUTIFUL MINDS: Signs and Symptoms of Mental Health Issues In LGBTQ Youth.

Workshop Title: Calling Out Lies! Calling In Allies!
Workshop Description: Discrimination against LGBTQ+ youth often stems from biased messages equating LGBTQ+ identities with illness, pedophilia, and other illegitimate associations. Many families, professionals, and politicians believe these lies and discriminate against and/or abuse LGBTQ+ youth. In this workshop, participants will learn ways to identify underlying myths about the queer community, how to respond to stereotypes with facts, and strategies for raising awareness of the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and their families.

Workshop Title: Cutting Down the Confusion: Updating Name and Gender Markers on Legal Documents
Workshop Description: A name is an integral part of identity and gender presentation. Having your legal documents congruent with your gender presentation is not only good practice for safety, but an important aspect of being affirmed in society. Having the ability to update legal documents to reflect an authentic name and gender can be a milestone and means to empower yourself and others.

Workshop Title: How to Help GSA Clubs Plan and Conduct Coordinated Activities
Workshop Description: Most Gay-Straight Alliance clubs are small groups which have trouble organizing events attended by lots of LGBTQ youth and their allies. This workshop will give advisors tools to begin to plan and conduct events which draw from a larger population of local GSA members and friends from surrounding schools. Workshop Description: Raising Zoey chronicles a year in the life of 13 year-old Zoey Luna, her
relationship with her mother, Ofelia Barba, her older sister, and her community advocacy.
With the support of her loving family and Dr. Johanna Olson from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the film highlights Zoey’s medical and social transitions and how she, with the aid of the ACLU, won the right to stay and fully express her gender identity at school, setting a precedent for the future of trans rights.

Workshop Description: In this interactive workshop, graduate-level trainees and interns share their own tips and strategies from their work with LGBTQI youth in a panel discussion format.
