"What To Do When They Tell You 'NO'"

"What To Do When They Tell You 'NO'" was a workshop on Legal Issues & Rights/Political Activism. The following is the workshop description: Sometimes, we feel that we deserve certain rights, which we are not granted by our schools and/or government. These rights could include using a certain bathroom, donating blood, taking a partner to a dance, starting an LGBTQA organization, joining our country's armed forces, or even getting married. This workshop will cover many of these topics, and discussion will revolve around if, when, and how we can stand up for equal rights, and have our voices heard. Be prepared to do some creative thinking!

"Violence on School Campuses"

"Violence on School Campuses" was a workshop on Hate Crimes/Harassment. The following is the workshop description: The focus of this workshop will be to provide students with the mechanisms whereby they can address issues of hate and bias on their school campuses. This will include components from the victim advocacy/assistance services so students are aware of what can be done if they or someone they know is directly victimized by hate violence on campus. Students will be informed about HOW they can address these issues on campus, including a breakdown of the myriad of services available to them through the Legal Services Department at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.

"Whatever Floats Your Boat"

"Whatever Floats Your Boat" was a workshop on Identity/Relationships/Self Esteem/Gender Issues. The following is the workshop description: This workshop will discuss different aspects of sexuality including emotions, relationships, and sexual attraction. We will talk about how we label ourselves (i.e., bi, straight, kinky/vanilla, queer, trans, whatev's) and what those labels mean to you and others. Are you "really" a lesbian or are you queer? Or, are you a queer lesbian? What about those funky bisexuals? What are they all about!?! Find out in this fun and interactive workshop!

"Create Your Life"

"Create Your Life" was a workshop on Identity/Relationships/Self-Esteem/Gender Issues. The following is the workshop description: Bring us your dreams and hopes for the future, and we'll help you realize them. Goal setting and achievement is a skill. Most of us need the support and experience of others to teach us how to achieve. This workshop will address the importance of being realistic, listening to your heart, honoring your inner voice, staying motivated, and choosing mentors that will help you along the way. We all have what it takes to do whatever we want to do within us!

"LGBTQQ Foster Youth Rights!"

"LGBTQQ Foster Youth Rights!" was a workshop on Legal Issues & Rights/Foster Care. The following is the workshop description: LGBTQQ youth make up 5-to10% of the foster youth population. In this workshop, former foster youth who are youth trainers with the Out of Home Youth Advocacy Council (OHYAC) will share their experiences in care as well as educate on The California Foster Care Non-Discrimination Act, or AB 458 prohibits discrimination in the foster care system on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We will also show LGBTQQ foster youth digital stories.

"Is It Risky?"

"Is It Risky?" was a workshop on Health Care/HIV/AIDS The following is the workshop description: This workshop will discuss the health risks involved in unprotected sex and the psychological factors that drive persons into self-destructive behaviors. The explosive issue of gay and bisexual men reversing the trend of safer sex is a topic few want to explore, yet one that has profound repercussions with in the gay community. This presentation will be focusing on all aspects of safer sex practices encompassing all spectrums of the LGBT community.
