MODELS OF PRIDE 17
WORKSHOP APPLICATION

Annual Conference—Saturday, October 17, 2009—Occidental College, Eagle Rock, CA
Applications due no later than SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2009

The annual Models of Pride (MOP) conference is a one-day conference for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) youth, and their allies, ages 14 to 23. The major sponsor of this conference is Friends of Project 10 Inc. This free conference provides a forum where youth come together to share, interact, network, and learn to build strategies that support them in school and society. It is a day where they walk away feeling empowered by the knowledge that they are valued and affirmed, and that they can be agents of change.

Purpose:
To provide LGBTQ youth with an opportunity to ask questions of themselves and their peers; to explore the nature of their orientation and identity; to gain an understanding about how their community relates to society in general; to become aware of community resources, and to realize that allies exist for them among their peers, in the adult LGBTQ community, and in their schools.

Guidelines:
MOP 17 seeks proposals that embody our purpose. Proposals are sought from both the youth and adult communities. MOP 17 encourages proposals that integrate and acknowledge communities with regard to race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, culture, ability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Each workshop presentation should have an interactive component.
