Goal:  Participants will gain insight into the legal, social, cultural, and therapeutic issues that affect LGBTQ youth

Description:  This workshop is for adults who work with LGBTQ youth. Participants will gain insight into the legal, social, cultural, and therapeutic issues that affect this population. Experts in the fields of HIV/AIDS, youth suicide, transgender, gender, homophobia, and heterosexism will share their perspectives with us. This workshop will present theory, research, and practical activities that will benefit those who work with LGBTQ youth.

Facilitator Background: Judy Chiasson is an educator, researcher, writer, and community activist. She serves as a voice of LGBTQ concerns in LAUSD's Office of Human Relations, Diversity and Equity. Dr. Chiasson is also a founder of Gays and Lesbians Initiating Dialogue for Equality {GLIDE}, a speaker’s bureau that conducts over 350 workshops per year about sexual orientation and gender identity; LGBT Child Abuse Prevention Council; and the Gay, Lesbian & Allied Administrators Association.
