Goal: Participants will gain insight into the legal, social, cultural, and therapeutic issues that affect Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) youth.

Description: This workshop is for adults who work with LGBTQ youth. Participants will gain insight into the legal, social, cultural, and therapeutic issues that affect this population.

This workshop will feature experts in the fields of youth suicide, LGBTQ psychology, and transgender, homophobia and heterosexism reduction. We will present theory, research, and practical activities that will benefit those who work with LGBTQ youth.

The organizer for the event is Judy Chiasson, PhD, of LAUSD's Human Relations, Diversity & Equity. Dr. Chiasson is an educator, researcher, writer, and community activist. Dr. Chiasson is also a founder of Gays and Lesbians Initiating Dialogue for Equality (GLIDE), a speaker's bureau that conducts over 350 workshops per year about sexual orientation and gender identity; LGBT Child Abuse Prevention Council; and the Gay, Lesbian & Allied Administrators Association (GALAA).
