Greetings,

My daughter recently came out as gay. She’s eleven. I am wanting to help her create a positive social network and peer group. I’d love to get more involved in this conference and any other opportunities. Is this something you can help me navigate?

Thank you.

Hi my name is Emeli Avalos and I have always loved Models of Pride since my very first conference. I was wondering if I could be allowed (for the next Models of Pride in 2015) to ask my girlfriend on stage to prom during the opening session or the entertainment time on stage. I would love to hear back from you guys, and hopefully you will allow me to do this.I know this is early but I just wanted to plan ahead. Thank you so very much! :)

I was wondering if it is okay if I don’t get there at 8. I will be there around 12 noon. Is that okay or do I need to be there early to register.

Thank you!

I would like to offer myself as someone who is knowledgeable of LGBT History to give such a presentation on our history. Also as someone who has been involved in most important LGBT events since I helped form the New York City Gay Liberation Front in 1969, including as a leading participant in the Stonewall Rebellion and have led numerous groups, there are likely young people who might appreciate interacting and listening to first hand experiences in the context of our history. I headed five programs at the Center 1978-1980 when I was on staff and for twenty years (1979-1999) led and built the largest LGBT Archives in the world, now known as the USC ONE Archives. I am hopeful that if this is a positive experience and that future years I would be happy to provide at no costs historical exhibits from my over 200,000 item memorabilia collection that will be the base for a long planned museum.

Dear Lifeworks,

I am a 17 year old queer artists and my current dilemma is that Models of Pride and the Calarts National Portfolio Day is on the same date. A large percentage of young artists are LGBTQ in Los Angeles and like me are depending on going to Portfolio Day and Models of Pride. Seeing as these two events are geared toward youth I urge you to reconsider your event date.

Hello Models Of Pride! My name is Bo Enzer, and I am a Gender & Sexuality Alliance President for a High School in North Hollywood. I have some very upsetting news: MOP is scheduled on the same day as National Portfolio Day this year. I have personally promised to drive several friends to National Portfolio Day, which is a full hour drive away from where MOP is being held this year. A lot of people are very concerned about this; a lot of the LGBTQAIP community is also in the artist community, and need to go to National Portfolio Day. Is there any way at all you can change the date of MOP? A lot of people are very, very upset about being unable to attend; as i said, the LGBTQAIP community has a LOT of overlap with the artist community.

Best,

Bo Enzer

Hi! I was just curious of the timing for the event because I know the SAT is the same day and I would really like to attend. I am the president of the GSA at my school and think it would be a great idea for some of us (hopefully all) to go, it’s just a matter of the timing. Please let me know, I really don’t want to miss this! :)

Thank you so much for the enlightening event. It is very inspiring to see such care and detail invested in the youth. I look forward to next year’s Models of Pride. I blogged about the event to better express my experience, which I put below in case you want any feedback. Everyone did an amazing job and it was a completely pleasant experience.

Hello. Will you be accepting walk-in registrants to the parent program on the day of the event?

I’m a mental health provider with Children’s Institute Inc. and the co-facilitator for Project Fatherhood at The Village. Project Fatherhood provides a unique supportive group for Gay Fathers. I wanted to know if I could disseminate fliers to prospective gay parents during the conference?

Hi,

Do you have a PDF of a flyer to post? I am the principal of a school in East LA and we have attended for the past six years – I’m hoping to get the word out again and would love to pass out a flyer if there is one available. Thanks!
